Fast & Reckless: Finding Love on the Racetrack

Fast & Reckless, by Amanda Weaver, follows Mira Wentworth and Matt Hawley through the Formula One season. Mira has just joined the organization as a team assistant, and she is desperate to prove that she can handle it. Mira is not about to let Matt Hawley get in her way. Matt Hawley has just joined the team as their new driver. He’s been known as a party boy in the past, and it’s blown up his career before. Matt knows that he needs to show that he’s reformed to keep his spot and make the podium. However, one look at Mira is all it takes for Matt to consider throwing it all away for chance with the bosses daughter.

This is a cute, quick book to read in a weekend. The budding relationship of Mira and Matt is heartwarming. Despite all of Mira’s best efforts she can’t seem to stay away from Matt. Despite all of Mira’s rejections, Matt still keeps trying to get her attention. They both help each other to become better, and they both grow together throughout the book. If you enjoy a medium burn romance then this would be the book for you.

The plot of the book doesn’t make a lot of sense. I don’t know why anyone would blame a 16 year old for being taken advantage of by a much older man. I, also, don’t know why that would have meant that Mira needed to be ostracized by her father. Mira’s backstory could have been thought through a little bit more. The resolution of the book felt a little rushed and unearned. A majority of the book involves the miscommunication trope as well. However, if you’re willing to suspend some disbelief, this is a fun book to read.
